Girasol was founded in 2024 to provide families and caregivers with the support, resources and public spaces to be heard, seen and understood.
Mission Statement
Girasol is committed to supporting neurodivergent families through inclusive public events thoughtfully designed to accommodate sensory needs. We provide monthly support groups and educational resources to empower families with the knowledge and tools necessary to advocate effectively for their neurodivergent loved ones.
We firmly believe that genuine awareness and acceptance are fostered by creating accessible, safe spaces where vulnerable individuals can feel supported and valued. Our programs aim to build community connections and enhance confidence by uniting families who share similar experiences and challenges.
All services offered by Girasol are provided with full transparency. While minimal fees may apply for certain programs, all funds are clearly accounted for and dedicated to sustaining our mission. Furthermore, Girasol collaborates with community resource centers and partner organizations across the West Valley of Arizona to deliver free services, ensuring broad accessibility and fostering inclusivity.
Meet the founder
Gennieva is the passionate founder of Girasol Nonprofit Organization, created with the mission to support and uplift the neurodiverse community. With an undergraduate in psychology and a minor in special education, Gennieva brings over four years of combined academic, personal, educational and professional experience in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
As a mother of two children on the autism spectrum, she has experienced firsthand the challenges families face—especially within communities where cultural stigmas surrounding behavioral health still persist. Determined to break barriers and build bridges, Gennieva founded Girasol to offer inclusive, family-friendly sensory events, parent support groups, and educational opportunities specifically tailored for minority families.
Her work is driven by empathy, advocacy, and a deep commitment to creating spaces where every individual is celebrated for who they are.
